3/31/11

Today, 47.1.  Dew point 15.6, 28% humid.  3mph SW wind.  The current surface map shows light rain just west of Wisconsin; perhaps we'll get a little of that soon.  It's mostly cloudy.  There's a trough in the jet stream along the east coast; Wisconsin is somewhat in it, but not extensively.
Tomorrow, mostly cloudy, more wind, and slightly colder.

3/30/11

42.3 today, not bad, it's warming up; dew point 3.9.  3 mph NW wind, blue skies.  High pressure system over Wisconsin.
Tomorrow, still blue skies, slightly warmer, slightly more wind.

3/29/11

38.8 today, just a little warmer than yesterday, dew point lower though, -6.3 giving a relative humidity of 14% compared to yesterday's 18%, 5 mph NW wind, similar to yesterday, still high pressure systems on and around Wisconsin, clear skies, jet stream very interesting on the west coast, where the fastest moving air is near vertical; in fact it's a half circle motion, with the stream coming in from the north west coast, Canada, Washinton region, curving in over the Rockies, and exiting in the south west coast, southern California, Mexico region.  Jet stream over our area not showing much activity.
Tomorrow, continued slow warming, light wind, clear skies.

3/28/11

Well, this wasn't the weather I was expecting before I left for Spring Break, but it is what it is.  34.3 degrees, dew point -3.8, so don't even think about there being any precipitation or clouds.  Totally clear blue sky.  6mph NW wind.  Nothing but high pressure systems for most of our area.  We're not in a big jet stream either.
Tomorrow, clear, sunny, about as cold.

Wednesday, March 16, 2011

3/16/11

54.9! Dew point 30.4, 10 mph South wind.  It's mostly cloudy but sunny.  Real strong jet stream coming across the continent from the West.  Surface map doesn't show much change.
Tomorrow, then, will be nice and warm like today.  It'll stay mostly cloudy but there'll be less wind.

3/14/11

What's it like today? Temperature 42.3, awesome and higher than I predicted it to be, dew point 23.9, 6mph SW wind, clear and sunny.  High pressure systems are the closest things to us right now, so skies are going to remain clear.
Tomorrow, warmer and about the same amount of wind.

Sunday, March 13, 2011

3/13/11

32.2 out there, dew point 18.5, 4 mph wind from the NW.  Mostly clear.  There's a big polar cold front coming in, but the weather guys are saying next week is going to be warming up.
Tomorrow, it'll be clear, sunny, a little warmer, and about the same amount of wind.

Saturday, March 12, 2011

3/12/11

Temperature 23.9 degrees, which is a 20 degree drop from yesterday; dew point 13.5.  There was a great wind last night, but for right now, it's 10mph from the West.  Also, it's overcast.  The current surface map doesn't show much going on.
Tomorrow will likely be sunnier, as the clouds push their way out of our sky, less windy, and warmer by a few degrees.

3/11/11

It is 43.9 degrees out, which is warmer than yesterday, the dew point is 21.7, and the wind is 9mph from the East.  Skies are mostly clear and sunny.  There's a cold front coming towards us; the warm front that has given us these warm days has passed.
Forecast for tomorrow is colder (unfortunately), cloudy and lots of wind! I can't see why exactly it'll be windy, or where the wind will be coming from, unless the low pressure system to the west of us shifts east, and the horizontal pressure gradient over our area becomes steep.  We'll see!

3/10/11

Partly cloudy right now.  Temperature is 37.6 (the on-campus weather is fixed, so these conditions are back to being more accurate), dew point is 23.4, and it is 56% humid.  There's a 2mph wind from the West, not the NW like I had thought.  The trough in the jet stream has shifted to the east.
Tomorrow, I'd like to think that it will be warmer, that the wind will be stronger, and that there will be some clouds, but that it will be mostly sunny.

3/9/11

It is 35 degrees, dew point is 30, 82% humid, 8mph N wind, overcast.  The "Heavy Snow" predicted by the Weather Service didn't fall such; in fact, it was rather light.  There is a trough in the jet stream through WI, continuing southward to the Gulf.  The current surface map shows that the low pressure systems have moved east of WI and that an occluded front has formed there; this region is recieving lots of precipitation right now.
Tomorrow will be less cloudy, warmer, and about the same amount of wind, although from the NW.

3/7/11

Currently it is 31 degrees, the dew point is 27, which makes our humidity 85%; there's a 5mph NE wind and it's overcast.  I was mostly right.  The only thing I didn't predict was this snowfall.  It started this morning and continued until about noon.  Pretty light.  Huge low pressure system situated over our area.  Snow is coming.
Tomorrow, I'm thinking the overcast conditions will persist, it'll be warmer, and there will be the same speed wind.

3/6/11

24.4 right now.  Same EXACT temp this time yesterday.  Dew point 16.7.  11mph NW wind, so that's stayed constant since yesterday.  IT'S ALL THE SAME.  This makes me question if the Current Weather On Campus is functioning properly.  It isn't.  It hasn't been updated since yesterday.  Okay, actually, the temp is 30, the dew point is 15, and there's a 10mph SE wind.  The day started partly cloudy and is now mostly cloudy.  There's an interesting little warm front near us.  Hopefully that'll pass over us and we'll get some warmer days.
Tomorrow, I think it's going to be warmer than today, with less wind, and, extending the trend, mostly cloudy.

3/5/11

It's 24.4, so I was right, it is colder than yesterday, and the wind picked up too, to 11 mph from the NW.  However, instead of being overcast, it is actually clear.  Dew point is 16.7.  The east coast is getting nailed with rain right now.  Not much action around WI, though.
Tomorrow, I'd say it'll stay the same temperature-wise, it'll be clear, and the wind will drop off some.

Friday, March 4, 2011

3/4/11

Temp is 34.3, which is slightly warmer than yesterday.  Dew point 25.7.  There's a 6mph NW wind.  The current surface model shows a warm front from south of WI and a cold front from the north.  The jet stream shows a trough is developing just west of us, which could be indicative of the cold air mass coming in from the polar north.  It's overcast.
Tomorrow, it'll cool off a few degrees, stay overcast, and the wind will pick up a bit.

Thursday, March 3, 2011

3/3/11

Ok, I was mostly wrong.  It did indeed snow earlier.  Right now the temp is 31.8, which is both warmer than yesterday and the only part of my prediction that came true.  Dew point is 24.4 and wind is 5mph out of the NE.  A low pressure system has sprung up west of us, which should pull in air from the warm front just south of us.  By the way, it's overcast.
Tomorrow should be warmer, with precipitation very probable.

Wednesday, March 2, 2011

3/2/11

Currently 15.3 degrees.  Dew point -4.4.  2mph NW wind.  Yeah, it's cold.  Overcast.  There's a stationary front going from the western edge of Canada, along the east side of the Rockies, and ending above Texas.  There are high pressure systems over Lake Superior and Lake Erie.  We're out of the jet stream.  What'll that mean for us, tomorrow?
Weather forecasts are announcing a 90% chance of precipitation.  I'm not seeing what they're seeing, I guess.  But it is warming up tomorrow.  Wind should be coming from the west.
