5/11/11

Okay, this is awesome.  This morning, skies were dark and cloudy, temp was 62.  It has been gradually progressing, and now, GOOD DAY, SUNSHINE! 71.4 degrees! Wind is (get this) 1 mph from the East.  One mile per hour.  Nice and calm.  61% humid.  There's a low pressure system directly overhead of us, extending into an occluded front that extends northward into Canada.  The ridge in the jet has shifted to the east, off us; there's a counterclockwise circle of jet stream in the central Rockies.
Tomorrow, temp stays beautiful, but I'd imagine we'll see some storms.  Wind shifts to the northwest, very low wind speed.

5/10/11

I can't wait any longer to report today's weather: 76.5 degrees! Let me repeat that: 76.5.  Seventy-six point five.  The dew point is 58.1 for a relative humidity of 53%.  Wind is 17 mph from the SE.  Sky is clear and sunny.  It is beautiful out there.  Furthermore, there's a warm front headed our way.  There's a couple of low pressure systems to our west bracketing an occluded front.  This gives us a possibility of clouds sometime soon.  Rain is also possible.  The jet stream is formed in a big ridge over our immediate group of states.  High pressure reigns supreme.
Tomorrow, hotter, cloudless, wind shifts to the south.

5/4/11

62.2 today, ten degrees warmer than I predicted (did I say 52? I meant 62! C'mon, honest!), it's only 19% humid, there's a 5 mph SE wind, and the sky is mostly clear but kind of hazy.  The surface map shows a high pressure system nearby; the jet stream map shows that we are in a ridge of high pressure.
Tomorrow, I'd say that we'll have 58 degrees, NW wind of 8 mph, and clear sky.

5/3/11

50.2, not bad, clear sky, sunshine.  It feels good.  11 mph NE wind.  Surface map pretty clear; high pressure system in our area.  We're in a trough.
Tomorrow, winds shift to the SW, continued warmth and sunshine.  I say 52 degrees.

5/2/11

38.1.  Very little wind, 3 mph from the SW.  It's overcast.  Why must it be this way? Okay, there's a high pressure system just west of us.  When that starts to affect us, these clouds will be pushed out and away.
Tomorrow, then, we'll have clear skies, sunshine, and a 5 mph NW wind.

5/1/11

I feel I have to share this, ladies and gentlemen.  As I was walking through campus just now, the wind blowing all around, I thought to myself, "It's got to be 36 degrees right now."  What's the temperature on campus? 36.1.  Thank you, thank you.
But seriously, screw this weather.

62.8, hooray! 11 mph SE wind, skies are clear.  High pressure system in our area.
Forecast for tomorrow is rainy, temp lower by a few degrees, and wind about the same.
